ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME

Hello, and again welcome.  I have been an amateur woodworker for over thirty five years, concentrating mainly on bowls as gifts and some furniture for the house.   As retirement from my second career (teaching) loomed ever closer, I wondered how I was going to keep busy.  I was inspired by a fellow teacher to try turning pens.  I turned one and was hooked.  That is not to say my first efforts were stellar.  They weren't, not by a long shot.  I have learned by trial and error, making huge mistakes, suffering a fair number of pen blank blowouts and by extensive reading on the web.

I have found that my pen making is an evolutionary process, not only in my skill turning pens, but also in the types of pens I want to turn and the types of wood I like to work with.  I am now at the point where I am truly proud of my work.  I have been able to sell my pens locally,  and I am eager to sell them online.  Since 2011 I have over 1000 pens to satisfied customers, many who are repeat customers.  In the fall of 2015 I expanded my product line to include ladies' bangles.  They can be seen in the Online Store.

This also my first attempt at hosting a website.  Please feel free to explore the site.  I welcome all constructive comments and criticisms, both positive and negative.

Thanks for stopping by, and if you're ever in Chattanooga, I'd be happy to show you my products first hand.  I am a regular vendor at the Chattanooga Market, and if you can stop by it will be clear my pen making skills far outweigh my photography skills.  See you soon.

Keep your chisels sharp!
